Finger Painting Adventures

Madeleine received a whole collection of finger paints for her birthday.  I'd been waiting to use for a raining day and when she wouldn't be inclined to try and eat the paint. Today we finally tried them out.

You might be able to see some blue painters tape underneath all that paint.  I was inspired by a pin on my favorite idea source Pinterest.

Sewing room remodel....progress report

Its quite an accomplishment to be able to see the floor in my sewing room. I'm not proud to say this, but I am proud to post to that I've accomplished a lot in last couple of weeks

Sadly I did not think to take before photos, but you will just have to believe me when I say this room looks a lot better than it used it. My DH hated the storage shelf that I used to have in here. A big expidit book shelf from Ikea that blocked the window. But it held all of my fabric, yarn, patterns and misc items -- approximately 15 boxes worth...

I just want to add that craigslist is wonderfull place to buy and sell stuff. Usually when I post something to craigslist for sale it takes a week or two, but not this time. My bookshelf was off to its new home and I needed some new storage fast. Because we have company coming to visit and my sewing room will be doing double duty as the guest room for my brother-in-law and his lovely wife.

After missing out on a few items on cragislist Paul and I set out one morning to make the rounds of our local thrift stores. Our favorite goodwill in Ballard, didn't have thing that was within our price range and neither did the big goodwill in the international district, but we struck pay dirt at the Salvation Army store. Pictured above is the new home for my all my yarn and all things knitting.  Yes it is full.

The fabulous dresser picture here is the home of most of my fabric...the big pieces anyway.

Hello quilting frame.  I hope to get some use out of you very soon.  Now that I can actually find you and have a clear path to you.

I know it still looks a bit cluttery but the window is now accessible and the amount of natural light is just wonderful.

Adventures in Pressure Canning

Paul, my husband, gifted me with a pressure canner for Christmas this year. After using it as a hot water bath canner for jam a few weeks ago-- I got brave enough to do some actual pressure canning.

All shiny and new my pressure canner cooking away with chicken broth in it.

Artisian Bread in 5 minutes a day...Love it

Finally tried making Artisian Bread .  Its so easy and so good.  Another way that I'm trying to eliminate processed food from our home.
